The future of mental health care rests with the forging of data-driven science rooted in research and a renewed faith in the wisdom of holistic traditions of healing that have been verified through other time-honored standards and practices. The rise of Integrative Psychology is a response to this development in the field.
My work as an Integrative Depth Psychologist means that I look to the unconscious mind as a key to wellness, relying on research validated contemporary psychoanalytic techniques. My work trauma-informed, meaning that I am trained to assess and help alleviate post-traumatic conditions that can directly impact quality of life through other evidence based modalities as well such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), and Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy (MBCT).
For couple therapy I rely on an integrative depth approach called Dialogue Therapy. This novel method brings together psychoanalytic strategy with mindfulness and elements of drama therapy to help couples to skills to navigate conflict, enhance communication, and bring about a deepening intimacy.
My orientation is rooted in an appreciation of social and cultural diversity, and I recognize the meaningfulness of social identities as well as the cumulative traumatic stress of cultural oppression, such as systemic racism and sexism. Working as an LGBTQ affirmative psychologist I recognize sexual and gender variance as normal and societal intolerance of this natural variance as a form of profound social misunderstanding and aggression. Helping others get disentangled from any internalization of this social problem (i.e. internalized homo/bi/trans/queer phobia) and closer in touch with their own truth has been at the heart of my clinical training and practice.
